Reasons You May Need Radiator Repair

If you see a cloud of white steam coming from the hood of your vehicle, it’s about time you paid a visit to your local auto repair shop! Below are a few reasons you might require radiator.

Auto Repair for Radiator Issues

1. Broken thermostat – A broken thermostat is often to blame for an overheated vehicle. The thermostat functions like a valve controlling the level of coolant entering into the radiator. When your thermostat is performing the way it should be, it monitors your engine’s temperature. Alternatively, a broken thermostat will require auto repair.

2. A leaking radiator or leaking radiator hoses – If your radiator has a leak, it can sometimes be difficult to find. Oftentimes, it’s the radiator hoses that are leaking and not the actual radiator. These hoses connect the engine and the radiator and allow for coolant to run between the two systems.Replacing the radiator hoses should be performed as a part of an annual maintenance tune-up service.

3. Trapped air – If air is trapped within your car’s radiator, it can reduce the flow of coolant in your car’s cooling system. If you happen to notice that your car is often running hot, you should ask for auto repair technician to bleed the cooling system to release any air that may have become trapped.

4. Faulty water pump – Your vehicle’s water pump function is to move water through your car’s engine before it passes back through the radiator. If your water pump is broken, the water won’t get circulated through the engine and may cause it to quickly overheat.

5. A broken radiator fan – Radiator fans help bring air into the radiator while your car is idling or operating at a low speed. If you notice that your vehicle is running great on the highway, but then gets hot if you’re stuck in traffic it could mean that you have a broken radiator fan.

If you have any questions or concerns about your vehicle’s radiator, call the expert technicians at AAMCO Lee’s Summit today for an easy appointment.
